As Speaker, Del. Filler-Corn played a critical role in the passage of adult-use legalization.
"In 2018, I was the Chief Co-Patron of HB1251 permitting the use of THC-A and cannabidiol oil for medical use. I’d been working on the issue for years on behalf of a constituent and this was a monumental step in educating the public and the legislature on the medicinal benefits of cannabis. Most recently, as Speaker, I worked to ensure that the legalization legislation was done in a way that promoted fairness and equity. I supported moving legalization to July 1, 2021."

We have an enormous opportunity with the legalization of adult use. From repairing the harms of the disproportionate enforcement of marijuana laws through expungement, resentencing, and social equity business ownership by affected communities to economic development and job creation, I look forward to working with stakeholders to continue to move this progress forward.
Legalization is a social justice issue. We must address the historic targeting of black and brown individuals over non-violent marijuana related offenses. I have worked to ensure funding is dedicated the automatic expungement process and will continue to support adding the necessary resources.
The marijuana legalization legislation created the Cannabis Control Authority and I look forward to working with this new agency to build on the work we’ve done to bring medical treatment to folks who need it most, people with epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, cancer, and those looking for pain management.
