Position on Marijuana Legalization

In addition to damaging families by incarcerating people for these victimless "crimes", by criminalizing marijuana the government has lost the opportunity to regulate (and reap the benefits of taxing this voluntary-use product) its use. Legalization opens up additional free-market regulation of this product that will better benefit the economy.

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

The tearing apart of families and filling of for-profit prisons in this country has done more harm to the nation than marijuana ever has or ever could. There are no victims in this "crime" of possessing marijuana, except for the people incarcerated as a result.

Persons incarcerated for "crimes" that do not have victims are victims in and of themselves. Righting this wrong and returning people to their families, strengthening that essential unit of society, is essential for correcting the greater ills of our society. This will also decrease the burden on prisons and free up resources for actual criminal reform.

Position on Medical Marijuana

Ignoring the medical benefits of marijuana due to the government-created stigma propagated by the "War on Drugs" can only be to our detriment. Your doctor's office isn't big enough for you, your doctor, and the government. Allowing doctors the freedom to utilize all of the resources at their disposal to treat their patients is something to be celebrated.
