B Jim Cox (R - PA) DECRIMINALIZE
Comments
"I do not support the legalization of marijuana for recreational use. During the debate in the Legislature about medical marijuana, the topic of legalization of recreational marijuana was a matter of frequent discussion but it was clear that most legislators and most of the people they represent do not wish to allow marijuana to be legalized for recreational use. Recently, the possible revenue that could be gained from legalization of marijuana for recreational use has been discussed, but I feel the negative impacts would vastly outweigh the benefit of any new revenue brought in through legalization. Abuse of alcohol has shown itself to be a consistent threat to the health and safety of our population, and I believe legalizing marijuana for recreational use could become a similar threat that would strain the resources of our law enforcement and health providers and would have an unknown impact on our communities."
