The Republican candidate who wants Democrat André Carson's 7th-district seat in Congress says his number one goal, if elected, would be to legalize marijuana to treat veterans with physical and mental issues.

Wayne "Gunny" Harmon told 93 WIBC's Tony Katz that legalizing marijuana would also curb the number of people who are turning to opioids as an alternative to treat pain.

"[One veteran told me] 'I do smoke weed.'  I'm like, that's fine as long as you feel good and you're not addicted to pills, which leads into methamphetamines; as long as they're healthy and they're doing marijuana, I have no problems with that," says Harmon. Link
