A+ Terri Sewell (D - AL) LEGALIZE, TAX, AND REGULATE DECRIMINALIZE MEDICAL USE

Holds office U.S. House District 7

Comments

"It is simply wrong that Black and Latino Americans serve harsh sentences while others make millions off a new and growing industry. By passing the #MOREAct, the House is taking critical steps to end an injustice and has plagued our judicial system for generations." (4/1/22)

"It goes without saying that the topic of marijuana is a highly nuanced and complicated issue. We must properly weigh the medical benefits and potential harms of marijuana, reflect on the number of incarcerations due to criminalization, and clarify the federal government's stance on the issue. Therefore, I will continue to research the details of these pieces of legislation while discussing and debating the issue with my colleagues in Congress." (12/14/19)

"While I understand that medical marijuana has been decriminalized and in some states legalized, it is not legal in the state of Alabama. Personally, I don't support illegal drug use of any kind. I am open to looking at scientific data and research on the effects of medical marijuana use, and if someone I knew believed they needed this treatment, I would tell them to seek it in a state where medical marijuana use is legal." (4/30/14)
