"I proudly supported the General Assembly in passing HB2312, HB2218 and HB1862, co-sponsoring HB5058 and HB1988. The General Assembly continues to ensure that the Commonwealth is moving forward on legalization with justice, public health and safety in mind."
I support legalizing and regulating the responsible use of cannabis by adults. The General Assembly’s legislation to legalize marijuana includes education measures in schools and communities with public safety in mind.
Marijuana criminalization laws have disproportionately harmed minority communities. I voted yes on HB 2113, which works to automatically expunge criminal records of non-violent marijuana possessions. I recognize this will not alone eliminate the racial disparities within the issues surrounding marijuana, but is a step in the right direction.
It is important that we continue to move forward in the expansion of the Commonwealth’s medical cannabis program. I have supported employee protections for medical usage of cannabis (HB1862). The House expanded the abilities of pharmaceutical processors with HB2218 and HB1988 which I co-sponsored. This legislation continues to expand cannabis access to patients across the Commonwealth.
