"For someone who has a family member with advanced stages of Multiple Sclerosis, I have been keen on the access to medical marijuana for patients. My aunt, who was diagnosed in her mid-20’s, did not start to experience symptoms until she was in her mid-50’s, but now her symptoms are quite debilitating and she has told me on several occasions that if she did not have access to medical marijuana years ago (she lives in the northeast U.S. where medical marijuana has been legal for years) that she would have committed suicide. She has explained to me the excruciating pain that she suffers on a daily basis, which has helped shape my position on the issue.

Considering the fact that roughly 70% of the voters are in favor of medical marijuana, it’s not a far reach to believe that a majority of Floridians would support legalizing marijuana for recreational use too. We should regulate it and tax it just like alcohol, like they are doing in so many states that are now flush with funds to pay for infrastructure like new roads and bridges, new schools, more mental health counselors, etc. We can use funds from the sale of marijuana and reinvest it in our state."
