Politician Info
? Bill Folden (R - MD)

My background

Growing up in Frederick, Bill attended Gov. Thomas Johnson High School and Frederick Community College, graduating in 1999. He enjoyed playing football, baseball and basketball.  He recognized early in life, his calling to “serve” both his country and community when he joined the US Army at age 17.

After completing his active duty service in 1994, Bill opted to continue to serve his “hometown” community as a Deputy Sheriff.  Bill attended and graduated from the Frederick Police Academy, serving under Sheriff Carl Harbaugh, Sheriff Jim Hagy and the current Sheriff, Chuck Jenkins.  Bill served in Patrol Operations, the Sheriff’s Office Special Services Team (SWAT), as a fatal crash reconstructionist, police motorcycle officer and was eventually promoted to the rank Sergeant, becoming the supervisor of the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit, responsible for fatal crash reconstructions, where he served until his retirement from the sheriff’s office in July 2011.

Still eager to serve, Bill was hired by the Frederick Police Department on August 1, 2011 to serve the citizens of Frederick as a police officer, where he still serves proudly today!

Additionally, Bill attended and is a graduate of the prestigious Northwestern University School of Police staff and Command Class #224.  Bill has been recognized as an “expert” in the field of crash reconstruction during numerous court cases, working with our State’s Attorney’s with a 100% conviction rate over 15 years and continued efforts to keep our roadways safe!  Bill was recognized by former State’s Attorney Scott Rolle with the 2001 “Award for Excellence” for exemplary conduct in the performance of duties as a crash reconstructionist.

In the year 2015, Bill received the VFW Police Officer of the year award. He also got the Washington Regional Alcohol Program Public Service Award the same year. In 2017, Bill was awarded as Legislator of the year by the Maryland Retailer's Association and also received the 2017 Frederick Police Lifesaving Award for performing CPR on an unconscious man.
