Senator Roger Marshall has been outspoken in his opposition to legalization of adult and medical use marijuana in Kansas. While he has made comments encouraging further study of medical marijuana, he remains unconvinced that there is any proven medical use.

When asked about medical marijuana:
"I'm not convinced that it's medically proven and it's a good idea, but I'm very willing for people to show me that; I'm starting to see some things on seizure disorders that maybe it will be a good thing, but I'm not convinced yet so I'm going to be very cautious," said Marshall. 2/28/17
"I think letting it [marijuana] be used for recreational purposes would be the slipperiest, steepest of slopes to drug abuse. Too many lives of friends and athletes in high school, college and life withered away because of marijuana. They became very apathetic, no motivation, depressed. I have seen the horrible side effects of marijuana use. I don’t want any part of marijuana in Kansas.” 9/24/2018
