Holds office State House District 45
Rep. Brandon Newton (R-45), who sits on the committee, said the Compassionate Care Act probably lacks the support to advance in its current form.
“It’s an emotional issue,” Newton said. “We have parents with kids who are having seizures, and if marijuana oils will help, I’m all for that part of it.
“But we have to be very careful with how we write this law. If it’s rushed through, it’s usually a bad one. I think that’s what’s been done.
“It’s too broad,” said Newton, whose Medical, Military, Public and Municipal Affairs Committee bottled up the House bill on Wednesday.
“There are lots of questions, and we ran out of time because of it. A bill this size will take some time to get through.” Link
