Scott Schluter filed a lawsuit alongside Libertarian candidate for comptroller, Claire Ball, in 2015, in order to challenge the constitutionality of a ban on political donations from cannabis businesses in Illinois. The courts eventually ruled in favor of the two and cannabis companies have been able to make donations to candidates since.
