From Siegel’s website; “I will work to end the War on Drugs, which continues the legacy of Jim Crow, and stop discrimination in policing, prosecution, and sentencing.“ In an interview with Texas NORML, Siegel said “ I spoke at the Texas NORML candidate forum and stated my belief that marijuana legalization is a health care issue, it's a criminal justice issue, and it's an economic issue. Health, because THC and CBD can be good medicine, more natural and healthy than some pharmaceuticals, and easier and more environmentally-responsible to produce. Criminal justice, because the criminalization of marijuana has been incorporated into the larger War on Drugs, which has disproportionately and ruinously impacted the Black and Latino communities in this country. And economic, because taxation and regulation of marijuana can boost government spending and also bring aspects of the market into a safer, mainstream setting.“
