F John Arch (R - NE) NO MEDICAL USE

Holds office State Senate District 14

Comments

Sen. John Arch opposed the proposal, noting that the federal government classifies cannabis as a prohibited “Schedule One” drug.

“According to the FDA website, quote, Schedule One drugs substances or chemicals are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse. Some examples of Schedule One drugs are heroin, LSD, cannabis, ecstasy, methaqualone and peyote, end of quote. Would we be having this discussion about any other Schedule One drug -- LSD, ecstasy? I don’t think so, at least not today,” Arch said. (2021)
