Schierl has been vocal about reform in his past election campaigns and cannabis reform is on his official campaign website as a platform inssue:
I support a statewide referendum regarding the full legalization for both medical and recreational use (Assembly Bill 220 is what he is referencing).
I also support releasing those incarcerated for possession or selling, as non violent crimes.
I am 66 years old. I grew up in Menasha. I have also have lived in Appleton, Fox Crossing and for the past 23 years, in the Town of Clayton. I am married and my wife Katie and I have four children.
I retired in 2015 after working 43 years at a local plastic manufacturing plant. My career began with American Can and ended with Bemis.
I am running for office as I feel residents in Assembly District 55 are not properly represented. I believe our state has not truly represented the people in Wisconsin for a very long time. I would like to make the people of my district the priority when making decisons in Madison. I not only want to listen to you as my constiuents, I want to vote for what will be in your best interest.
I support legalization of medical cannabis and also strongly feel we should be looking at full legalization for a tax revenue and also I do not think we should be giving a green light for big pharm to make synthetic cannabis and charging outrageous prices like they do on all of their drugs. And cannabis is a natural plant with no man-made chemicals. Legalization also will create small businesses throughout the state, which would be good for our economy. - Source 2018 News Interviews
