Position on Marijuana Legalization

"The legalization of marijuana in Florida is overdue. The sales should be handled much like the sale of alcohol products; adults only and behind counters to block under-age access. California and Colorado have greatly amplified the enrichment of the education systems through taxation of marijuana sales. The taxes would be a great benefit to the people of this state." (Candidate Survey Response)

"The federal laws prohibiting marijuana should be abolished. This is much like alcohol prohibition 100 years ago. Let the states control sales and possession of marijuana without the threat of punitive federal laws." (Candidate Survey Response)

"Our courts and jails are overflowing with people whose only crime was using or possessing marijuana. The convictions should be expunged and their rights (including voting) should be automatically reinstated. They should not be subject to any further consequences." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

"Marijuana must be removed from the Federal Controlled Substances Act to decriminalize the possession of marijuana. The laws governing marijuana should parallel those laws used for alcohol possession and consumption." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Medical Marijuana

"Marijuana has proven to be beneficial for many patients and doctors must be allowed to authorize [its] use. In some cases medical cannabis is appropriate for doctors to authorize for use in the treatment of children as well. Families should not be forced to relocate so their child can receive the benefits of cannabis for medical reasons." (Candidate Survey Response)
