Position on Marijuana Legalization

I believe that legalization efforts in total are positive. The legal status for consumers and producers should have never been taken from them. I think the growth of the state in licensing and taxation is concerning and should be put in check. I believe that broad liberties are reserved to the people that include the right to grow, trade, and consume marijuana without license or penalty.

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

Decriminalization removes some of the harshest penalties, and I completely support those efforts. But my stance goes further, I don't believe that there should be any penalties or any licensing for possession and use, and I would push for further to normalize the laws concerning Marijuana. Citizens in Alabama shouldn't have their right to live peacefully being stolen and monetized.

I have hope that in the future we will regard the prohibition of marijuana in the same way we regard the prohibition of alcohol. Expungement of non-violent marijuana convictions will help to restore the lives of people that should have never been treated like a criminal.

Position on Medical Marijuana

Any law that allows people to seek and receive treatment should be supported, and ultimately I do support it. I don't believe that the growth of the state, the selective licensing of the production, or the healthcare data and patient registry that was created by the legislation is positive. Alabama citizens and elected representatives, as I hope to be, should still push for further normalization of marijuana law.
