Candidate in race for State House District 69 on Tuesday, June 17, 2025
I am in favor of the legalization of cannabis and its regulation for responsible use by adults. I am pleased to see legalization will not only bring forward justice and equity to the communities most affected by incarceration from marijuana possession, but that there will be tangible economic benefits as well.
I am in favor of automatic expungement of records related to non-violent marijuana possession charges. Virginia would save funds by not incarcerating people for possessing a simple plant that offers medicinal benefits. Additionally, expungement would start to deliver justice to communities that have been disproportionately affected from incarceration. Expungement is a step we must take to move our Commonwealth forward.
As a physician, I’m well aware of the medicinal benefits of cannabis and support responsible adult use. Legislation should be introduced to remove barriers for patient access to medical cannabis, as well as easing entry and affordability for business owners.
