In December 2023, the City initiated an evaluation of options on amending the City’s Codes to allow cannabis dispensaries to operate within Citrus Heights.  On February 8, 2024, the City Council considered options, including a timeline for implementation, and directed staff to arrange a public workshop and report back to the City Council. Councilmember Middleton expressed support for continuing to explore the issue. 

Results of a public workshop were presented to the Council on April 11, 2024.   Following a lengthy discussion including several speakers and the reading of written comments, the City Council directed staff to delay any action.  The City Council requested more information and research related to cannabis ordinances and requested more public outreach.  No exact timeline or process was established by the City Council. Councilmember Middleton expressed support to delay any action and gather more information.
