Cannabis should be legal, full stop. Oversight similar to alcohol or tobacco may be reasonable. It should not be taxed any more than other goods or produce (it is a plant after all) as excessive taxation leads consumers back to gray and black markets and the inherent risks associated with such.
Crime requires a victim. Possessing a plant does not create a victim. Selling someone a plant or anything else they willingly sought out and purchased of their own accord does not create a victim. I support expungement of all non-violent “offenders” of the war on drugs and others locked up for victimless crimes.
I support full legalization of cannabis, both medicinal and recreational, including the right to grow your own. You should be able to grow cannabis plants right next to your tomato plants.

The war on drugs is a war on medicine. Alabama’s current medical marijuana law is barely a baby step in the right direction.
