Politician Info
C- Michael Greer (R - CA)

"I want to make it clear that I don’t believe in cannabis or alcohol consumption but it’s legal and should be treated as such. I am against illegal cultivation and believe that local and county agencies concerns should be part of regulating the industry. I also believe that in the discussion of future regulations or restrictions that small and large growers need to have a large role in the process, not just after but from the beginning."

Position on Marijuana Legalization

In answer to Cal NORML's questionnaire, Greer said:

"I currently use hemp medicinal salves for joint pain. I do not smoke or ingest cannabis but I don’t use alcohol either. I have stated many times that since the voters in California approved medical cannabis then it should be treated like other agricultural products just like wine.

"I just attended the Cannabis Trade Show in Santa Rosa, my first event, and was impressed with the way it was conducted and the events that were held. I believe in choice and accountability for all legal events with the same restrictions as other agricultural products that have age restrictions."

Greer said cannabis taxes are too high and he would support lowering taxes on all cannabis businesses.

Asked about employment rights for cannabis users, he replied, "As an educator I have seen those who have and do abuse some of the current laws. I don’t support all of the employment rights that have been established for all employees."
