Position on Marijuana Legalization

When asked to provide a position on legalization, Dr. White stated, "Marijuana should be regulated by benign state rules that govern usage, venues, and areas of public usage. The use of the herb must be treated as a benign instrument that could be a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands. That being said--the legalization of the herb will free up resources for more important within the stratum of law enforcement, judicial hearings, incarceration, medical treatment and social reconstruction." Regarding federal and state prohibitions of cannabis, Dr. White noted, "the Federal and State Laws that convict Americans of marijuana usage are archaic and useless. They are merely weaponized laws isolate, polarize, and control targeted members and groups of our society." (Candidate Survey Response)

Dr. White is purportedly in favor of expungements for non-violent marijuana possession crimes, writing, "Millions of Floridians who have been arrested and found innocent or convicted of minor charges like nonviolent marijuana possession have had their lives destroyed by not having those cases expunged or sealed. Many times victims of such treatment are forced to pay unfair prices to lawyers to have such cases eradicated. In this light automatic expungement of nonviolent marijuana cases should be the rule of law." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

On cannabis decriminalization, Dr. White stated, "The possession of small amounts of marijuana for personal consumption should be treated as a minor traffic offence. Harsh sentencing must be negated and decriminalized." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Medical Marijuana

On the topic of medicinal cannabis, Dr. White explained, "As Americans become more dependent on legalized addictive drugs like opioids to offset extreme pain; more physicians are relying non-addictive natural remedies such as marijuana. In addition, the herb, used for centuries by ancient Greek, Roman, India and Egyptian societies as a healing property; modern doctors have found that it not only mask chronic pain but it is an excellent plant to combat sleep apnea, multiple sclerosis and symptoms associated with HIV and AIDS."
