B- Ashley Brundage (D - FL)
Position on Marijuana Legalization

"We should legalize responsible use of marijuana by adults. This really shouldn’t even be a question at this point because of the fact that utilizing marijuana gives so many people better health outcomes then the addiction to so many other drugs that exist in our world, especially pharmaceutical-based drugs. We need to go back to driving empowerment for people, this is essentially connected to my eight year research project that then became a best selling award-winning book about empowerment people. That will be exactly my limit test on every bill that goes in front of me whether or not it is driving empowerment for people." (Candidate Survey Response)

"The states have spoken, and the majority have said that people need to have access to marijuana as a safe way to care for their own medical needs. We need to get the government out of making decisions about what people put in their bodies and we need to stop powering the pharmaceutical industry to, constantly care for us in ways that make us addicted to so many other worse things in this world." (Candidate Survey Response)

Brundage believes that non-violent marijuana possession convictions are "definitely disproportionally affecting people of color." She elaborated, "In my work experience as a diversity equity and inclusion officer for 60,000 employees at a bank I can tell you that our world is not equitable in relation to how people are treated and how they are police, and how they navigate laws based on their race. This will be especially important while I get elected to be a staunch advocate for anti-racism and showcasing other systemic qualities that exist in our society and marijuana possession convictions are exactly that kind of thing that I will highlight as a state elected official." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

"It shouldn’t be a criminal offense to have something that can help you gain better health and better care for your own body. This also fuels the school prison pipeline based on the current criminalization of marijuana. We need to be smart about how we focus our laws and provide more resources for people to empowerment for each other rather than having the government control us in our decisions around our basic health needs." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Medical Marijuana

"We need to provide the ability for people to have access to something that can improve their overall health and it’s a medical resource that people should be able to quickly purchase without having to jump through 8 million hoops control by the government." (Candidate Survey Response)
