Politician Info
B- Bryson Morgan (D - FL)

Candidate in race for State House District 17 on Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Position on Marijuana Legalization

A political newcomer, Morgan claims to be "a public advocate for Amendment 3 [who] helped gather signatures and pushing for the public support of Marijuana...If you are an adult, you can make the decision to use or not to use marijuana. The fact that we still criminalize it at the extent we do is outdated and we have to follow the science." (Candidate Survey Response)

Questioning the federal prohibition of cannabis, Morgan simply stated, "the federal government has seen the benefits of marijuana and needs to understand that it is a great resource for medicinal and recreational usage. The federal banning of Marijuana is outdated and unneeded." (Candidate Survey Response)

Morgan has expressed his interest in implementing automatic expungement measures, writing, "we have to expunge those who are convicted of non-violent marijuana possession charges. These people are having issues getting jobs, housing, and surviving because of these convictions." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

Morgan posits that decriminalizing the simple possession of marijuana is in the best interests of equality and justice, noting, "by decriminalizing possession of marijuana we will allow our jail and prisons to be used for those with more violent crimes as well as ending a school to prison pipeline for young people of color." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Medical Marijuana

Morgan is in favor of Florida's legal medical cannabis industry, stating, "medicinal marijuana should be legalized and encouraged when science allows for the Benifits. We have seen amazing improvement in medicinal marijuana and have seen amazing results from its usage." (Candidate Survey Response)
