Position on Marijuana Legalization

"Many states have already legalized, decriminalized and taxed the sale of MJ with safety regulations. Unfortunately the businesses doing so, can not get bank accounts. These distributors should be able to get business bank or credit union accounts. Safety regulations like those for alcohol are appropriate and recommended." (Candidate Survey Response)

"MJ is currently a Schedule I drug, the same place on the DEA schedule as heroin, cocaine, etc. There is no exception for the plethora of medical uses of THC other than the CBD exception provided during the Obama Administration. THC is actually one of the CBD's yet remains illegal. The federal laws should all be consistent with the multiple states who have decriminalized or re-legalized MJ. Appropriate regulations to ensure clean usable MJ should be enacted by HHS." (Candidate Survey Response)

"Not only should automatic expungement of any criminal record for MJ possession be introduced, passed and signed by POTUS, but anyone incarcerated should be immediately pardoned for such." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Marijuana Decriminalization

"Multiple states have already decriminalized the simple possession of MJ while it remains illegal under federal law. The federal law should parallel such statutes. To incarcerate anyone for simple possession is a travesty especially when a disproportionate number of folks of color are the ones spending decades behind bars for no legitimate reason for having a joint." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Medical Marijuana

"There are too many fantastic medical uses for MJ. One of the most important replaces deadly opiates for pain medication. Since the federal government has had MJ on schedule I for multiple decades, medical research has been scant. Once elected I will attempt to have a committee investigate the possibilities of amping up this research. Meantime, at a minimum if your doctor prescribes THC, the government should in no way be getting in between you and your doctor." (Candidate Survey Response)
