A Blaizen Bloom (D - VA) LEGALIZE, TAX, AND REGULATE DECRIMINALIZE MEDICAL USE

Candidate in race for State House District 89 on Tuesday, June 17, 2025

Position on Marijuana Legalization

"It's time for Virginia to end the failed policy of cannabis prohibition. The reality is that cannabis is widely used, and prohibition only fuels an unsafe black market. Legalizing and regulating the retail sale of cannabis to adults 21+ allows us to control its quality and distribution, generate tax revenue for our communities, and address the disproportionate harm that prohibition has inflicted on communities of color. Furthermore, when compared to alcohol, tobacco, or vaping, cannabis has been shown to have a less detrimental impact on personal health. I absolutely support moving forward with legalization and regulation." (Candidate Survey Response)

"I strongly support the automatic expungement of records related to non-violent marijuana possession charges. Virginia has made progress in reforming its marijuana laws, and it's time to fully embrace a more just and equitable approach. No one should have their future limited by a past marijuana conviction. As delegate, I will work tirelessly to ensure that every Virginian with a non-violent marijuana possession charge receives automatic expungement, allowing them to move forward with their lives without this unnecessary burden." (Candidate Survey Response)

Position on Medical Marijuana

"I firmly support expanding Virginia's medical cannabis program. The evidence is clear: cannabis has demonstrated its potential to be a safe, affordable, and effective alternative or complement to traditional medications for a variety of conditions. By empowering Virginians to access medical cannabis, we respect their autonomy in making informed decisions about their own healthcare and well-being with their doctor. This aligns with a fundamental principle of individual liberty and limited government intrusion in personal medical choices." (Candidate Survey Response)
