A JeKia Harrison (D - OK) LEGALIZE, TAX, AND REGULATE DECRIMINALIZE MEDICAL USE
Position on Marijuana Legalization

"I don’t use marijuana either but I also do not support the criminalization of it which takes legalization to address it." (4/24/24)

"I've seen this narrative twice in the last week from OK elected officials. EVERY TIME Oklahomans put something in place through initiative petition process the Republicans tell us how we don’t know what we did and regret it. We are NOT stupid. We know what we voted for." (4/24/24)

Position on Medical Marijuana

"That goes back to one of the comments I made about having regulations that address issues like this through state law and agency rules. The legislature was lax in addressing all that would come with medical marijuana becoming legal." (4/24/24)

"WHEREAS: Oklahoma’s medical marijuana industry performance has far exceeded previous economic forecasts and stands poised to explode even further in the near future. Medical marijuana sales reached a record $831M+ in 2020, more than twice what was generated in 2019, and dispensaries amassed $385 M in sales through June 2020; and

WHEREAS: Despite the potential wealth capacity building of the Oklahoma cannabis/medical marijuana industry, Oklahoma’s GDP remains among the lowest in the nation; and

WHEREAS: The economic opportunities and benefits of medical cannabis have not been equitably shared with marginalized and minority communities, particularly those most impacted by over criminalization and over incarceration;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: We support the implementation of policies that promote equitable access to economic opportunity in the cannabis industry for all Oklahomans and in particular, those from communities disproportionately harmed by over criminalization and over incarceration." (Committee Member, Resolutions Committee Report, 2021 Oklahoma Democratic Party Convention)
