A Chris Gorsek (D - OR) LEGALIZE, TAX, AND REGULATE DECRIMINALIZE MEDICAL USE
1. Will you support legislation that would increase safe, affordable access to patients? I have family members that need cannabis for pain management and the medical program is a very important way for them to afford their pain management regimen. I would enthusiastically support efforts to protect this important program. 2. Will you support legislation to license and regulate cannabis consumption lounges? I think we need to ensure that cannabis is treated in the law at least the same as alcohol. While I have some reservations around smoking indoors I think we have to be fair considering that we know that cannabis isn't nearly as harmful as the hookah lounges that still proliferate. 3. Will you support legislation to end discriminatory practices against cannabis consumers in the workplace and housing market? I'm actually working on legislation related to the treatment of cannabis testing in the workplace. I worry about people unable to use cannabis therapeutically in housing as well and look forward to protect tenants further in the upcoming session. 4. Will you support legislation to regulate cannabis producers and processors like breweries and wineries so they may give tours of their facility, provide samples and sell directly to consumers so long as they charge and collect taxes? (keep in mind the law requires all areas of the premises to be on camera) The legislation that provided for distilleries to sell and provide samples was transformational for those businesses and as I responded to in an earlier question, parity between the treatment of alcohol and cannabis is important to me. 5. Will you support Oregon NORML's efforts to push for federal decriminalization and descheduling of the cannabis plant? Absolutely.
