James Hayes Shofner Cooper (born June 19, 1954) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 5th congressional district (based in Nashville), serving since 2003. He is a member of the Democratic Partyand the Blue Dog Coalition.[1] He previously represented Tennessee's 4th congressional district from 1983 to 1995.
