His career experience includes co-owning and operating Flannery’s Bar/Restaurant Milwaukee and Fire Ridge Golf Course and working as an accountant with Wisconsin Electric, an athletic director, and a basketball coach. Melotik has served on the Ozaukee County Board of Supervisors.
Melotik was a co-sponsor of the 2024 controversial medical cannabis legislation presented by Republicans.
Assembly Bill 1040 (Republican Medcial Marijuana Legislation) was submitted very late at the end of the 2024 session. This effort is controlled by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos and has been conducted behind closed doors within the GOP Caucus, without public involvement, and purposely excluding the Democrats. - source
Melotik took office in Assembly District 24 after a special election in 2023 without a Republican Primary challenger after perpetrual candidate Spencer Zimmerman was not able to obtain ballot access.
