Position on Medical Marijuana

In response to 2022 NC Family Policy Council's question “Should the use of marijuana for medical purposes be legal in North Carolina?” YES with the note: I support the medical use of marijuana, but only if it is prescribed (not just recommended) by a licensed physician in a pharmaceutical form, manufactured by a legitimate pharmaceutical company, and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy like Walgreens. As with any other drug it should only be prescribed in cases that the patient has a diagnosed condition where quality of life and/or medical outcomes will be improved by its use."

Response to 2020 NC Family Policy Council's question “Should North Carolina legalize the use of marijuana for medical purposes?” NO

With the note "In states like California, approval of "medical marijuana" was merely a way to dodge the law. Anyone who wanted to use marijuana for recreational purposes could get a "prescription." It was also just a first step in legalizing the use of marijuana. The elements that are of medical value are already available."

Comments

C Expressed public support for medical marijuana, but only non-smokable or medical forms.
