Governor McMaster has repeatedly stated that he is against legalzing recreational marijuaa. In the past few years he has mentioned considering legalizing medical marijuana, but has not made any significant progression towards that action. He consistently uses trigger words like "dangerous" and "detriment to society" when supporting his stance on the criminalizaition of marijuana, ususally with no accuarate or actual data behind it.
Senator Scott tends to avoid making firm stances on whether he believes marijuana should be legalized or criminalized. He has mentioned the importance of Congress deciding whether cannabis companies should have access to relationships with credit and banking unions. He believes bank access is crucial for the stabiltiy and safety of a company.
Senator Graham is not interested in legalizing marijuana for recreational use. He is open to reviewing evidence on the medical benefits of marijuana usage.

S. 150 — the S.C. Compassionate Care Act — was defeated in a procedural motion. Before debate on S. 150 could begin, Rep. John McCravy (R) raised a motion claiming the Compassionate Care Act is a revenue-raising bill and as such was not allowed to originate in the Senate. Speaker Pro Tem Tommy Pope (R) — a staunch opponent — ruled in favor of the motion to kill S. 150 after a lunch break.
