Governor Youngkin has regressed Virginia's progression in the roll out of adult-use legalzation. In 2024, Youngkin vetoed multiple cannabis measures, including two bills to begin adult-use retail sales. His veto statment included numerous false claims regarding cannabis regulation in the United States.
Now that over the half of the states in the United States have legalized some form of adult use marijuana, Senator Warren believes that the federal government should follow suit. He also beleives that cannabis companies should have the right to acess banking institutions.

Both of these pieces of legislation are now law and represent some progress with respect to managing the medical cannabis market and controlling for THC content in hemp products.
